All those activities which people start with uttering the syllable OM do not fail to bear fruit.
(Shankaracharya’s Commentary on the Taittriya Upanishad 1.8.1)
After the month I’ve had, I need to be reminded to chant “Om”.
“Om” – I need it to remind me that everything will be ok.
“Om”- I need it to remind me I’m doing my best.
“Om”- I need it to remind me that I can be calm.
“Om”- I need it to make me calm.
“Om”- I need it to help me be a patient mother.
“Om”- I need it to help me be an understanding wife.
“Om”- I need it to help me breathe out the stress I’m feeling.
“Om”- I need it to center me and allow me to relax.
Chant it…breathe it….be it.
You’ll feel better I promise.
Why do you need to chant “Om”? Share with us at Mothers’ Hideaway today.
Thanks to Pour Your Heart Out Wednesdays, Wordful Wednesday (7 clowns), Wordless Wednesday (5 min mom), Wordless Wednesday (A Beautiful Mess), Wordless Wednesday (Ramblings of an Empty mind) , and Wordless Wednesday (Live and Love…out loud) for hosting today’s linkups.

Never thought about OM standing for absolute when you chant it. Those are all pretty good reasons. And you are not alone. I’ve had one heck of a week and could use some good old fashioned meditation about now. Oh, and thanks for linkin up for WW. Hubs snapped the pic for me after the pool tonight.
I need ‘OM’ to remind me to be a patient mom for sure. That above all things is what I need it for.
I definitely need “om” to help me release the anxiety and the stress I’ve been feeling all summer long!
sometimes OM is the only peace in a day. Reminds one to center and breathe.
This is so beautiful. I’m afraid to start listing the reasons I need to say om bc I might never stop.
I was able to get over here from the link to your post about the girl you used to be- I can so relate!
well, after my last post? You know the reason! What a cool post today!
That’s a beautiful ring for sure!
Happy WW!
oould have used some “OM” last night!!
Ah! Now I know what “om” means!
My husband was taught to say his “oms” when he was recovering from a massive stroke. He tells people he would say a prayer, say his “oms” and then he’d listen. Nine years following his stroke he got really good at it. He prayed, “om”ed and listened, every day. One day, after his prayer and his “om”s, he was told that he would marry me. He argued with God about His answer, telling Him that there was “NO WAY”.
But, God was right and here we are. Happily married.
And what you quote IS so true:
“All those activities which people start with uttering the syllable OM do not fail to bear fruit.”
Just wanted to let you know that I gave you an award.

Every night I chant, “I will have a job I like,” to put myself to sleep. Now I shall add ‘OM’ to the beginning of that.
